New Blog Series: Stockist Interviews

By William Bartels

We're super excited about our upcoming new blog series where we feature some of our favorite stockists around the county and abroad.  We'll be asking them some questions so we can find out more about what makes them tick, and to get a preview of what it's like to shop in their stores.  We decided to turn the interview on ourselves first, to kick it all off.....so here goes:

Q: Where are you located?

A: We are based in Seattle, in the amazing Ballard neighborhood - of which we are huge fans.  Ballard is kind of like it's own city and has a distinct feel - nautical and old-school in a nut shell.  It's quickly growing in population and popularity, but is thankfully staying true to it's maritime and hard-working history.  We have great beaches, lots of shopping, bars, coffee shops and restaurants, as well as some classic characters

Q: What do you sell?

A: We sell handmade, affordable, modern, minimalist jewelry.  We like to cut the fat and keep all our designs really pure and simple---that way you can wear our pieces everyday and with ease.  We like to compliment your look, not take it over :)

Q: What is the best part of owning your store ?

A: We love making and designing things, and Baleen gives a great and fun creative outlet, that also supports our lives.  And we love that we get to work together!

Q: What's your favorite Baleen piece?

A: We are partial to the U-shaped earrings.  We offer them in gold, rose gold and silver.  We adore their ultimate simplicity and find them so easy to wear.  Even putting them on is so easy--- no backs to fuss with.  We love them so much we decided to offer J-shaped and Long U-shaped earrings!

Q: What is your favorite ice cream flavor and/or pizza topping?

A: Salted Caramel ice cream, hands down.  In shake form, from Molly Moons.......mmmmmmmmm
